Scientific Activity

She has published hundreds of articles and books about medieval history and has organized national and international congresses.

Her research currently focuses on the following themes:
- Universities of the Mediterranean world
- Relations between Italy and the Mediterranean world in the Middle Ages
- Arab and Norman Sicily
- Falconry as a vehicle of knowledge between East and West
- Religious tolerance in the age of Frederick II and Al-Kamil
- Life and Arabic science in the medieval city of Lucera
- The tradition of medieval Islamic Medicine in the Latin world

Creator, with Alduino Ventimiglia, of “Carditello Park project”, with the aim of enhancing the Bourbon Palace of Carditello (Caserta), in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Culture and of Tourism, and with the involvement of Arab countries for the parts of ancient falconry and equestrian art (in progress)

In charge of the iconographic section of “Frederick II Virtual Museum” in Jesi (in progress)

Creator of “Medio Vivo project” – in Marostica Castle (Vicenza), in collaboration with young researchers of University of Bologna (in progress)
